Soonafter, Edmonton’s libraries became my second home . Every soapmaking book on EPL‘s shelves found its way into my hands. When those weren’t enough, I went searching for more.
The science grabbed me. Understanding how each oil contributes to the final bar, what creates that perfect lather – it became an obsession. The refinement process took longer than I’d planned, but when you’re following a passion down the rabbit hole, time works differently.
Soap making is a craft built on shared knowledge. I found my people in local classes, and in online communities with other makers around the world who became mentors, collaborators, and friends. Now, I moderate ‘Soapers Haven‘, an online community created by Martha Rose, that’s grown into something bigger than just soap – it’s become a source of pride and genuine connection.
You start with curiosity. Gather simple ingredients. Add knowledge. Time. Patience. The result isn’t just soap – it’s science and art meeting somewhere in the middle.
Small batch. Local roots. Every ingredient with a purpose.
